| I have been a Non-Resident Keralite for more than
ten years and have been itching for a long time to celebrate the local festivals
of Kerala. The meltdown of the US economy in 2001 was a good enough reason
to take a sabbatical leave and spend some time in Kerala. The images in this site is
a selection from more than thousand images,
taken with a Canon Powershot S300 digital camera during the period of Dec
2001 to April 2002.
The absence of ladies in the photo journal
Kerala during Onam,
has led some visitors to complain about the
male dominated festivals of Kerala. In Kerala, where there are more
females to males, and matrilineal system still exists, it was a drawback
and I have made sure the female participation is documented this time.I hope you
